SVRDC Nutcracker Highlights:

  • Over 40 local dancers and actors
  • More than 40 behind the scenes volunteers
  • Promotes and supports the performing arts in Phoenixville and the surrounding areas

Dance nonprofits heavily rely on volunteers to get the production complete. This includes for studio cleanings, costume measuring, costume alterations, transporting sets/costumes, set up/clean up at theater. Dancers and parents are required to complete 10 hours in order to be an active member and perform each season.

My sister had the opportunity to visit a local bookstore in downtown Phoenixville, dressed up as Clara’s mother from the nutcracker and read the story to groups of young children. She posed for photos and answered questions for the audience. This is an example of the type of philanthropy they had provided and completed for the community, while also advertising for their performance, broadening their audience.
